The testing on monsoon and rainfall in Southern China(SCMREX Plan)
This SCMREX Plan is the international scientific testing plan raised by the meteorological department of China for the scientific problems to be resolved in terms of the heavy precipitation and monsoon in Southern China, especially the disaster of sudden rainstorm. China Academy of Meteorological Science lead and implemented the testing on monsoon and precipitation in Southern China in May-June, 2013 and April-June, 2014.The third atmopheric testing in Tibetan Plateau
The environment in Tibetan Plateau is very severe and there lack common meteorological stations and observation materials, and the remote-sensing materials are very uncertain. Such facts are directly affecting the development of meteorology of Tibetan Plateau. The numerical mode has become the main measure of climate and weather forecasting, however, because of the unique boundary layer structure and complex physical procedure of cloud precipitation in Tibetan Plateau, nearly all the numerical modes have low simulation capabilities to the climate in Eastern Asia, especially for plateau cloud and precipitation, and they are directly restraining the promotion of accuracy rate of numerical forecasting.The field thunder test in Guangzhou
Guangzhou Field Thunder Testing Base was established in 2005 and it is located in Guangzhou of Guangdong Province. The annual thunderstorm day in this area exceeds 80 days, and it has provided good weather conditions for researching thunder. Under the firm support of Chinese Academy of Meteorological SciencesandGuangdong (Provincial) Meteorological Serviceand after the construction in the recent years, the base has possessed the software and hardware conditions for the testing on manual thunder leading, comprehensive observation of physical features of thunder, lightning positioning system, development of lightning alarming technology and thunder protection. Etc. At the same time, it can satisfy the requirements of R&D and testing for some testing equipment. The testing base has performed the comprehensive observation testing on thunder in many aspects and obtained large amount of observation information with high quality, as well as abundant achievements in terms of thunder supervision, alarming and protection.
